Common questions

Answers to the questions candidates ask most often, from preparing for an interview to what happens once you finish.

Everything candidates ask us most often, grouped by where you are in the process. If your question is not here, email support@goodfit.so with the company name and the job title.

Before your interview

Can I test my camera and microphone first?

Yes. Goodfit runs a microphone check and shows you a video preview before the interview starts, so you can confirm everything looks and sounds right.

How long will it take?

Most interviews run between 5 and 45 minutes, depending on the role. Set aside a quiet block of time so you are not rushed.

How should I prepare?

Find a quiet, well-lit spot, close other apps, and read the job description again. There is more detail in How should I prepare before starting?.

Do I need to dress formally?

Yes. Treat it like any other interview and dress professionally.

Can I practise first?

Goodfit does not offer mock interviews. Practising out loud with a friend, or answering a few questions to yourself beforehand, works well.

Starting your interview

How do I start?

If you were invited by email, click the link in that email. Otherwise go to jobs.goodfit.so, open the job you are interested in, and click Start Interview. The full walkthrough is in How do I apply for a job on Goodfit?.

Is there a cutoff time?

No, you can start whenever suits you, day or night. Companies do close applications once a role is filled, so it is worth not leaving it too long. See Is there a cutoff time for starting my interview?.

Can I take the interview in another language?

Often, yes. Each company chooses the languages for its own interview, so what you see depends on the role you applied to. Goodfit supports English along with Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Where a company has picked more than one, you can answer in whichever of those you are most comfortable with.

During your interview

Can I use notes?

Yes, but treat them as you would in a normal interview. Use them as quick reminders rather than reading from them.

Can I retry if I make a mistake?

No. Retries are not allowed, so that everyone is assessed on the same terms. If something goes wrong technically, that is different, so contact support and we will look at it.

Do I have to keep my camera on?

Yes. Every Goodfit interview needs your camera on for the whole session, and disconnecting partway can disqualify your attempt. If you would rather not do an AI Video Interview at all, contact the company directly.

If something goes wrong

My microphone is not working.

Scroll down to the live transcript and speak. If your words appear, Goodfit can hear you. If nothing appears, work through How can I troubleshoot microphone issues in Goodfit during an interview?.

The interview link will not open.

Clear your browser cache, then try again in an incognito window. Full steps are in My interview link isn't loading. What should I do?.

My interview ended suddenly.

Start it again, with your headphones or earphones unplugged, on the latest version of Chrome. A laptop or desktop is more reliable than a phone.

My internet dropped partway through.

Email support@goodfit.so with the company name and job title. We will review what happened and can often send you a fresh link.

I closed the window by accident.

Same thing. Email support with the company name and job title, and we will take a look.

I cannot upload my resume.

Drop the file onto the upload area, or click browse to pick it. Goodfit accepts PDF, DOC and DOCX files up to 10 MB. Wait for the green Resume uploaded line to appear before you move on, because the file is still processing until then.

After your interview

What happens next?

Your responses go to the hiring company. Any update comes from them by email, so keep an eye on your inbox.

Is my interview recorded, and who can see it?

Yes, it is recorded, and it is shared only with the company you applied to.

Will I get feedback if I am not selected?

That is up to the company. Some send feedback to everyone; others only get in touch with candidates they are moving forward.

How many times can I apply to the same company?

That is also up to the company. Most allow one attempt per role.
